Civil Twilight takes place outdoors at dusk, on the fringes of the city, where urban life peters out as nature begins to reassert itself. Ari Benjamin Meyers creates a work shaped by the site itself, its distances and proximities, what can and cannot be seen, the unexpected constraints it places on the performers, and the physical encounter between music and the ground, soil and surrounding materials. Exploring loss as well as nature’s capacity for resilience and regeneration, the performance unfolds in a landscape poised between abandonment and renewal.
