The title of the piece may suggest meanings other than that of a bright, light-footed dance. Inspired by the letter and spirit of Mozart – specifically his Divertimento K. 136, composed at the age of 16 – Diverti Menti plays with shifts in tempo and scale, giving visual form to the various tricks of memory: its persis- tence, loops, grey areas and other inventions.
